Training for organisations

The ACT Ombudsman supports ACT Government agencies and organisations by running regular training courses and information sessions on complaint-handling, Freedom of Information and Reportable Conduct.

Complaint-handling training

The ACT Ombudsman works with ACT agencies to create effective and efficient complaint-handling systems. We have developed a tailored education program for ACT Government front-line complaint handling staff and their managers. This program provides an open platform for engagement and sharing of experiences and is perfect for individuals or small teams to attend.

We can also cater for individual agency specific training sessions upon request.

If you would like to read more about our education program, please see our flyer for our open session Complaint Handling Workshop or send an email to education@ombudsman.gov.au.

Training Feedback

‘I enjoyed the workshop immensely. I found the subject matter fascinating and useful. The workshop structure and content was easy to follow and well organised. The presenters were impressive with real world anecdotes and experience in the field. Having participants from across ACT Public Service enriched the experience with different perspectives.’

Freedom of Information Forums

Throughout the year the Office holds forums for FOI officers working in ACT Government agencies. These forums provide FOI officers with guidance on how to implement the FOI Act.

At the forums you will hear presentations from FOI experts and learn from their experiences. The forums are used to consult on the development of Ombudsman FOI Guidelines.

See News and Events page for the latest dates of the FOI forum or contact us at actfoi@ombudsman.gov.au.au.

Reportable Conduct Training

Throughout the year we hold information sessions to help organisations implement the Reportable Conduct Scheme. The information sessions are aimed at leaders and managers of organisations that work with children.

See Reportable Conduct page for the latest dates of these courses or contact us at act@ombudsman.gov.au.
